Mark behind the bar is a star!! Great pint at €3.90! The guys in there are well friendly. Anything you need ask Mark. He'll do his best to accommodate. 10/10

Huge disappointment!!
The setting is beautiful, inside and out,the prices reasonable, the service was mediorce, the food bad and the menu atrocius.
For a seafood restaurant the choice of seafood is awful. Ended up having pork belly which was just OK, my partner had seafood chowder which was nice (but the same as you would get in any pub) and then we choose the seafood platter for two. And it was horrible. The mussels (all six of them) were lukewarm, the salmon was slightly hard around the edges, the lobster tasteless, the crabmeat in a jar mixed with some god awful sauce and the prawns were in a mushy prawn cocktail sauce.
I was so disappointed with the food that I complained to the manager which I have never done before. And we were offered a free desert! Gee thanks.
The restaurant advertises a meal for two for €50. When I mentioned this when the bill came I was told that we should have asked for the special menu to avail of those prices. Fair enough but we should have been given the "special" menu when we came in with the alternative menu.
Don't waste your time money nor effort with The Anglers Rest as I can guarantee you will be sorely disappointed.

Found the staff very rude, the manager in particular. Myself and my family were having some drinks after a Christening recently and were informed after an hour that no more drinks were being served to us. The majority of my party were middle aged. There was no satisfactory explanation given, avoid if possible.

A beautiful old style bar famed for its Guinness. Well renowned for its prompt and efficient service also. Very clean inside and immaculate toilets, a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Very reasonable pricing for the location - would definitely revisit.

I just found out that the best true rock and roll band The3Rocks are sceduled to play the Legal Eagle/The Bar on Sat Feb20th.Great scoop.Saw them in The Corner Bar in Edenderry and they were excellent.I'll be there.
